Affordable Care Act and Medicaid

Efforts to repeal and replace the ACA and make changes to Medicaid are underway in the US House and Senate. The House may vote on a newly amended AHCA sometime after 5/3. 


Latest positions of PA Senators and Representatives considering the MacArthur Amendment: 
PA 1: Bob Brady (D) No
PA 2: Dwight Evans (D) No
PA 3: Mike Kelly (R) Voted to advance the initial version of the bill on the House Ways and Means Committee.
PA 4: Scott Perry (R)  undecided. PCAA staff spoke to his office on the phone the morning of 4/27. 
PA 5: Glenn Thompson (R) undecided. PCAA staff spoke to his office on the phone the morning of 4/27. 
PA 6: Ryan Costello (R) No. 
PA 7: Pat Meehan (R)  No. 
PA 8: Brian Fitzpatrick (R) No. 
PA 9: Bill Shuster (R) Can't find specific info, but likely yes, major Trump supporter. Supported initial bill. 
PA 10: Tom Marino (R) Probably yes. 
PA 11: Lou Barletta (R) Likely yes, but unconfirmed re: MacArthur amendment
PA 12: Keith Rothfus (R) Unknown.  But, seems to be courting Trump.

The Congressional Budget Office just released their report on the American Health Care Act (aka the GOP's healthcare bill): "BO and JCT estimate that, in 2018, 14 million more people would be uninsured under the legislation than under current law." The number rises to 52 million uninsured (AHCA) v. 28 million uninsured (ACA) in 2026. See more details here.
